Plants do get sick from time to time.  Below is a list of the description of common insects which infect plants and the appropriate treatment.  Here are some other useful symptoms to look out for and solutions to these symptoms.

Symptom One

Description

White waxy or cotton like material covers these insects which feed on foliage as well as plant roots.

Cause Mealy bug
Solution Spray with Malathion, Diazinon and/or Spraytex Oil

 

Symptom Two

Description

Larvae which feed between the upper and lower leaf surfaces.  This results in tunneled and blotched areas on the leaves

Cause Leaf Miners
Solution Spray with Diazinon 

 

Symptom Three

Description

Green to reddish to black insects which feed on young tender growth, causing new leaves to curl

Cause Aphids
Solution Spray with Karate or Decis

 

Symptom Four

Description

Tiny insects normally found attached to the underside of leaves but can also attached to branches

Cause Scales
Solution Spray with Organocide, Malathion, Diazinon and/or Spraytex Oil
